Coyotes goalie Alex Auld cleared waivers Tuesday morning and was assigned to San Antonio of the American Hockey League. There are now four goalies with Phoenix’s top minor league team, so the organization is exploring making a corresponding move.

In nine games with the Coyotes this season, Auld was 3-6-0 with a 3.54 goals-against average and .880 save percentage. Auld became expendable when Phoenix claimed Ilya Bryzgalov off waivers from Anaheim on Saturday.

Kings at Coyotes

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Jobing.com Arena

TV: KAZ-TV (Ch. 27)

Radio: KDUS (1060 AM)

Records: Los Angeles 8-11-1, Phoenix 8-10-0

Line: Coyotes 105-125

Series history: Phoenix beat Los Angeles 1-0 Saturday and leads 80-59-25-3 all time, including 45-27-11-1 at home, where it has won three straight and seven of eight against the Kings.

Scouting report: Kings — Los Angeles has lost four straight and has been outscored 14-6 during that stretch. Its last two defeats have been by shutout (Saturday vs. Phoenix and 3-0 Monday at Dallas), the first time it has been blanked in back-to-back games since March 24-26, 2002. Left wings Mike Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov lead the Kings with 19 points each while former Coyote Ladislav Nagy is sixth on the team with 11. He is, however, second at plus-4. Forwards Kyle Calder (fractured left thumb) and Raitis Ivanans (broken cheekbone) remain on injured reserve.

Coyotes — Newly acquired goalie Ilya Bryzgalov will make his home debut as Phoenix looks to reverse its fortunes at Jobing.com Arena, where it is just 2-7-0. Bryzgalov blanked Los Angeles 1-0 Saturday to become the first goalie in Jets/Coyotes franchise history to record a shutout in his first game with the team. The Coyotes desperately need to break out of their offensive funk. Their 42 goals are the fewest in the NHL, and they have scored just twice in the past four games. Shane Doan’s power-play goal at 11:24 of the second period Saturday ended the team’s scoring drought of 202 minutes, 24 seconds over nine periods.
