The leaves may not be changing color and the weather’s not that cool. But even though it doesn’t feel like fall in the Valley, it can still look like it in your home.
Festive fall centerpieces are a great way to get geared up for the holiday without spending a lot of money or time. “You can go outside and find all sorts of great vines, pods and leaves in your own yard that are a great addition to a centerpiece,” says Marlene Partain, co-owner of Zuzu’s Petals in Mesa.
Once you’ve collected different outdoor items, dress them up with gold spray paint, twine and flowers. Or add small pumpkins or other produce — like pomegranates and figs — for an attractive eye-catching design. “Anytime you can bring the outdoors in, it feels more festive,” Partain says. Another way to transform an ordinary flower arrangement into a distinct seasonal treat is to replace the vase with a pumpkin.
These techniques are a great way to impress dinner party guests. “I think it really adds to the table,” Partain says. “It’s like you went the extra step.”
