Francesco Morales, For the Tribune

Mesa police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred Oct. 10 at a loan center in Mesa, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

The female victim, an employee of Fast Payday Loans/Fast Auto Loans in Mesa, escaped from an attacker who attempted to assault her after inquiring about a loan. She described the attacker as a Hispanic man in his 40s who was fluent in Spanish.

According to the news release, the attacker was approximately 5-foot-8, 180 pounds with short black hair, a mustache and an unshaven face.

The man was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and light-colored cowboy boots. He was also said to have had a medium build and a potbelly. He also smelled of gasoline or grease and had dirty fingernails.

Police released a composite sketch of the man on Tuesday.
