Tempe Marcos de Niza senior Harrison Evens, a two-time first-team All-Tribune selection and a member of the 2007 Arizona Football Coaches Association 5A all-state team, has verbally committed to San Diego State, his coach Roy Lopez said Thursday.

Evens rushed for 1,465 yards and 14 touchdowns on 117 carries and also caught 46 balls for 793 yards and six scores this past season while helping lead the Padres to a 10-2 record and the quarterfinals of the 5A-II state playoffs.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Evens is expected to play running back and flanker for the Aztecs, the same role he filled at Marcos de Niza.
