Arizona State men's basketball coach Herb Sendek has hired Nevada assistant
Dedrique Taylor as a Suns Devils assistant, ASU sources confirmed Friday. Taylor will give the Devils an assistant with West Coast ties after Larry Harris left the program to return to North Carolina State where he had been an assistant under Sendek.
Taylor, a UC Davis graduate, has spent the past two seasons at Nevada under
Mark Fox. The Wolfpack made the NCAA tournament both seasons.
Taylor came to Nevada after being an assistant at Portland State from 2002
to 2004.
He also was an assistant for one season each at Loyola Marymount and UC
Davis.
Before taking up coaching, Taylor, whose father coached high school ball in
Pomona, Calif., played professionally overseas for two years and worked as a
sports agent for the basketball division of the PSI Sports Management firm.
Taylor joins Mark Phelps and Archie Miller on Sendek's staff.
ASU is still looking for one more coach to replace Greg Morland, who left
the program to coach and teach in Ohio so he could be near his ailing
father.
