East Valley briefs - ASU wrestling falls to Cornell

Despite another dominating victory at 157 pounds from Brian Stith, the Arizona State wrestling team dropped a 38-4 decision to No. 11 Cornell Sunday in Ithaca, N.Y.

The Sun Devils slipped to 5-9 on the year with the loss. The Big Red moved to 2-4 on the season. Stith (17-2) continued his recent streak of dominance, securing a 13-1 major decision. The victory was his ninth in a row and also marked his fifth-consecutive victory by major decision.

LACROSSE

The Arizona Sting of the National Lacrosse League won their third straight game on Saturday night, defeating the Portland Lumberjax by a score of 12-9 in Portland. With the win, the Sting are 3-1.
