    Great Olympic sport.

You need super-quick reflexes, concentration, strength (women's and men's trap shotguns weigh the same).

I was fortunate enough to be in the stands at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and watch the Gold Medal Trap Competition. The American shooter, Dan Carlisle, missed one clay target....the last one thrown which forced a run-off. Unfortunately, Dan, came in third (Bronze Medal).

What so impressed all of us was that he (Dan Carlisle) still came over to sign autographs with tears running down his face and he kept saying he was sorry. None of us cared a lick about that. We saw the ...."TRUE OLYMPIC SPORTSMAN SPIRIT" that day when Dan went over to the Italian Gold Medal winner to congratulate him (the Silver Medal winner did not). The Italian Shooting Team was so impressed with Dan's courtesy and good sportsmanship that they picked him up and carried him around shouting....'USA....USA...USA".
    Truely a memorable Olympic moment.

Best of luck and good shooting to.......Corey Codgell in London......"Dead Birds, Corey....dead birds".

Excellent accurate article on Olympic competition and the opportunity for women competing in shotgun sports. The article correctly points out that the top Olympic form for shotgun sports is not limited to a fleeting couple years in the prime of full blown youthful health and strength. The shooters top form is developed by honing self confidence and personal discipline to perform at the best possible level while always trying to become even better. Personal responsibility and respect for others becomes increasingly evident in these athletes as they strive to build their skills and help others do the same. The previous comment from Leon C. on this article gave even more insight into the Olympic character and spirit. Thank you, Leon!

60 student athletes from the greater Mesa-Tempe area competed in the Scholastic Clay Target Program on the Dust Devils SCTP Team shooting at the Rio Salado Sportsmen's Club in NE Mesa this seeason.. Two of them will be staying in Olympic Village next month for a life changing few days of Olympic level competition. All 60 will soon have a copy of your article to serve as an inspiration for next season.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department administrates the SCTP shooting activity in Arizona and actively encourages young women and men to consider shooting sports. Membership in SCTP is from age 10 thru college. Numbers on our team are growing but more are needed. Your article will help.[smile]
