No. 21 Arizona State will host California on Saturday to wrap up the regular season slate of games.
California at No. 21 Arizona State
When: Noon Saturday
Where: Wells Fargo Arena
TV/Radio: CBS/KMVP (860 AM)
Outlook: California: Thanks to its win against Arizona on Thursday night and ASU's loss to Stanford, the Bears will be the No. 3 seed in next week's Pac-10 Tournament. Cal made 16 of 30 (53.3 percent) from behind the 3-point arc in winning at Arizona for the first time since 1995. Mike Montgomery has become a candidate for National Coach of the Year and has turned Jerome Randle (18.2 ppg, 3 rpg, 5.1 apg) into one of the best guards in the conference. Former Mesa Mountain View standout Harper Kamp averages 4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.
Arizona State: This nationally televised contest no longer has tangible implications for either team beyond ASU trying to correct its shooting and mental state after three consecutive losses. ASU's brutal loss to Stanford on Thursday night locked the Sun Devils into the No. 4 seed for next week's conference tournament. Until ASU shot 36 percent Thursday, Stanford allowed Pac-10 teams to shoot 47.8 percent against them. One of the team's lone bright spots, point guard Jamelle McMillan (groin), was on crutches after Thursday's game and is doubtful for Saturday's game.
