The Arizona State baseball team scored early and often in a 12-10 victory over Kansas on Sunday during the last game of the Coca-Cola Classic at Surprise Stadium.
Kole Calhoun and Riccio Torrez both had three hits, including a two-run homer for each, and three RBIs to lead the fourth-ranked Sun Devils (14-3).
After ASU piled up runs early, Kansas came charging back and notched five runs in the eighth inning against reliever Jordan Swagerty. He was able to regain control and retired the final five batters to seal the win.
Arizona State begins Pac-10 play when Arizona pays a visit to Tempe at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
