Sounds to me like the fashion designers have to come to grips with a population which has been ignored: niche marketing, and someone will make money out of it!

More like, "the fashion designers have to come to grips with a population which has" become more obese each year.
In a sport that relies on brute strength and bulk, dainty and feminine might not describe the participants.
Depends on your point of view/perspective, I guess.
