This is not John Chaney’s Temple anymore. The Owls have ditched Chaney’s famed matchup zone defense and play man-to-man under Dunphy.

TEMPLE BREAKDOWN

Record: 22-11

Conference finish: Won 2nd straight Atlantic 10 Championship

Coach: Fran Dunphy

Top players: G Dionte Christmas (19.2 ppg); F Lavoy Allen (10.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg); Ryan Brooks (10.7 ppg, 41.7 percent on 3-point shots

Team stats: 69 points per game, allowing 63.4 points. 44.5 FG percentage; opponents 40.3

Analysis: This is not John Chaney’s Temple anymore. The Owls have ditched Chaney’s famed matchup zone defense and play man-to-man under Dunphy. Christmas is a big-time player who will test ASU’s zone. He scored 35 points against Tennessee, 21 against Kansas and has the ability to take over a game. 7-foot center Sergio Olmos could make it difficult for ASU big man Jeff Pendergraph to get looks inside.
