A new season means a new look for a ballpark entering its 10th season. With the Diamondbacks changing colors, club officials decided this was a good time to examine their stadium and freshen things up.

The D-Backs were aiming for a cleaner, less cluttered look, says club president Derrick Hall.

Probably the first thing that sharp-eyed fans may notice is when they first enter the ballpark.

They’ll see the field itself instead of having several concession carts blocking the view.

Overall, “The first thing people will notice is how clean and new the stadium feels,” Hall said.

Also, the rotunda area just inside the main entrance has been changed.

Instead of a history lesson on the game of baseball, the D-Backs — reasoning that they now have a fan base well versed in the game — will see photos of fans.

“The focus is on the fans,” Hall said.

A few other new wrinkles:

• An area in left field above TGI Friday’s has been set up for whiffle ball.

• The picnic area remains the same in left field but in right field, part of the picnic area has been changed into a stadium club requiring a separate ticket.

• New signage on the concession stands.

• Some bilingual signage has been added to the stadium.

• Renovations have been made to the suite levels.

• Fans will see more red throughout the stadium, though the seat colors remain unchanged.
