Another complete-game shutout from Hillary Bach and a two-homer night from Katie Crabb fueled the ninth-ranked ASU softball team Tuesday night in a 4-0 win over Creighton and an 11-3 win over St. John's 11-3 in five innings.
Bach took the win in the first game and Megan Elliott grabbed the win in the second game as ASU improved to 17-2 overall.
Against the Jays, Bach took to the circle for ASU and kept Creighton at bay, pitching seven innings and allowing only three hits with seven strikeouts en route to her third shutout of the season.
The Sun Devils jumped on the board in the third, as Lesley Rogers came around on a Kaylyn Castillo RBI single. Another RBI single from Annie Lockwood helped give ASU a 3-0 lead. A sac fly in the fourth from Castillo was all ASU neededf.
In the nightcap against the Red Storm, Elliott took the circle and was greeted rudely in the first inning, allowing three runs on four hits. ASU responded in the second inning, as an RBI hit from Lacy Goodman was followed up by a two-run home run from Katie Crabb that tied things up.
Ashley Muenz plated another run in the third with a double before Crabb crushed the first pitch she saw in the fourth inning for her second bomb of the night, opening the doors for four more runs in the inning.
After a single from Krista Donnenwirth in the sixth inning, Annie Lockwood finished the day early when she launched an 0-2 pitch deep to left field to end the game via run rule 11-3.
The Sun Devils return to action Friday, when they host St. John's and Creighton again at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
