The Diamondbacks will have their first spring workout Feb. 16, and it will include some of their newest players.
The D-Backs’ four top draft picks from last June’s draft — pitchers Jarrod Parker, Wes Roemer and Barry Enright and catcher Ed Easley — are among the 17 nonroster players invited to major league camp in Tucson.
Parker, their No. 1 pick last season, signed too late to play in 2007 but participated in the instructional league program in September.
Recently signed minor league free agents who have been invited to camp include infielders Donnie Kelly and Jesus Merchan and outfielders Trent Oeltjen and Tim Raines, the son of the longtime major leaguer of the same name.
Other nonroster invitees are pitchers Hector Ambriz, Brooks Brown, Matt Green, Connor Robertson and Mark Rosen, catcher Frank Curreri, infielder Jamie D’Antona and outfielders Gerardo Parra and Chris Rahl.
Position players are to report Feb. 20, with the first full-squad workout scheduled for Feb. 21.
