The Cardinals trimmed their roster against Monday morning, including a dumping of running backs Troy Hambrick and Josh Scobey.
Hambrick was originally slated to be one of the Cards’ top three backs this season, but a rocky offseason — including his decision to be the only player to skip all 11 of June’s voluntary team organized workouts — sent him down the depth chart and deep in the doghouse. Hambrick never practiced in training camp either because of a lingering foot injury.
Scobey had been the team’s kickoff return man and third-down back last season, but that role has been all but taken by free-agent signee J.R. Redmond.
The other players cut Monday included center Chad Bandiera, linebacker Greg Carothers, wide receiver Fabian Davis, safety Aaron Francisco, wide receiver Lawrence Hamilton, tackle Jim Newton and tight end Andy Stokes.
