Cameron Higgins threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns and running back Trevyn Smith added 104 yards on the ground and three total touchdowns as Weber State beat Northern Arizona University 42-14 Saturday in Flagstaff.
With the win, Weber State (7-2, 5-0 Big Sky) moved into sole possession of first place while Northern Arizona (6-2, 4-1) dropped into a tie for second with Montana.
After NAU quarterback Lance Kriesien was intercepted by J.D. Folsom, the Wildcats scored on their second play from scrimmage when Smith scored from 3 yards out to make it 21-0 before the first quarter came to a close.
Kriesien finished 5-for-10 for 36 yards and an interception. He added 64 yards on the ground on 12 carries before being replaced by sophomore Michael Herrick.
Herrick, who came in with his team trailing 35-14, finished 10-for-15 for 102 yards and an interception.
