Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski was suspended for one game, without pay, after
delivering a blow to the head of Minnesota forward Marian Gaborik during the Wild's 3-1 victory Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Jovanovski will forfeit $34,759.36. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Jovanovski was assessed a minor penalty for roughing at 19:43 of the third period. He will miss tonight’s game at Chicago and be eligible to return Saturday at Detroit.
