A day after senior guard Bryson Krueger was dismissed from the Arizona State University basketball team due to off-court behavior, it was learned the 22-year-old was arrested earlier this week for possession of a gun and various drugs.

Krueger, the Sun Devils' second leading scorer last season, was arrested early Wednesday by Tempe police who said they found found a plastic bag containing four grams of cocaine, two pills of Ecstacy and one Xanax painkiller in his car.

Police said they also found a loaded .40-caliber handgun between the front seat and console.

Krueger was booked and released at Tempe City Jail.

The arrest stemmed from police responding to a Tempe resident telling them that Krueger threatened him over a debt.

Authorities said Friday Krueger’s case has been referred to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which is investigating and could file criminal charges.

ASU spokesman Doug Tammaro said coach Herb Sendek didn't give a specific reason for dismissing Krueger on Thursday, but indicated it was for off-court behavior.

Tammaro declined comment on Krueger's arrest.

Krueger averaged 12.3 points and 3.4 rebounds last season.

He played in all 28 games for ASU and shot 40 percent from the floor.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
