The Chandler High School marching band isn’t accustomed to big parades and national competitions.

But this year, its 168 band members will be highlighted in the Fiesta Bowl Parade on Saturday and the Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship on Sunday.

It will no doubt be a busy and pressure-packed weekend for the Wolf Pack marching band.

"Bring it on," said senior drum major Andrew Hrynyshyn, 17. "We’re playing a different song for the parade than for the competition, but we’re still going to rock it."

Led by legendary NFL receiver Jerry Rice, the parade lineup also includes 13 floats, 12 high-flying balloons, East Valley equestrians, 23 marching bands and the Fiesta Bowl queen and court.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to line the 1.7-mile parade route, which was shortened this year due to light-rail construction in downtown Phoenix. It begins at 11 a.m. and is expected to finish in under two hours.

Spots along the sidelines, as well as parking, are first come, first served — unless you are one of 9,000 people to reserve bleacher seats ahead of time. People are expected to begin scoping out their spot as early as 6 a.m.

Warm weather is expected, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
