Caylyn Carlson went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBIs as No. 2 Arizona State wrapped up the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational for its third softball tournament win, 11-1 in five innings Sunday over San Jose State.

ASU’s Katie Burkhart pitched a complete for her ninth win of the season.

Krista Donnenwirth was named the most valuable hitter for the weekend and Mindy Cowles claimed MVP honors for the Sun Devils (21-1).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

• The third-seeded Arizona State women (20-9) open Pac-10 Tournament play at noon Saturday in San Jose, Calif., against No. 6 seed Washington (13-17).

If ASU wins Saturday, it will play its second game at noon Sunday.

MINOR LEAGUE HOCKEY

• Dusty Jamieson scored two goals and Mitch Carefoot added three assists to propel the Phoenix RoadRunners to a 5-1 win Sunday over the Alaska Aces at US Airways Center.

BASEBALL

• Arizona (5-1) took advantage of some late offense, including four home runs, to rally three different times and put away a pesky Sacramento State club, 10-9, at Kindall Field.

WATER POLO

• The No. 10 ASU team got two goals each from Addison McGrath and Kristen Wagner, but it was not enough as No. 2 Stanford (11-2, 3-0 MPSF) secured a 12-6 victory Sunday in Palo Alto, Calif. The Sun Devils slipped to 11-8 and 1-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
