Two-time defending state boys volleyball champion Highland High School got a bit of revenge in Saturday’s Charger Invitational at McClintock. Highland knocked off Mesquite — a team that defeated the Hawks twice during the regular season — in the semifinals and Desert Vista in the finals to capture the tournament championship.

Travis Knight led Highland in the 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 title match win with 39 assists and three digs.

Stewart Hamblin added 14 kills and four blocks and Jameson Bevans chipped in with 13 kills and two blocks for the Hawks.

In the 25-19, 20-25, 25-23 semifinal win over the Wildcats, Knight had 33 assists.

Both Mesquite and Desert Vista have already clinched region championships, winning the 5A Fiesta and 5A Central, respectively.
