WICHITA, KAN. - Arizona put together three straight twoout singles in the seventh inning to score the eventual winning run and beat Oral Roberts 4-3 in the opening game of the Wichita regional on Friday.

Bill Rhinehart blooped a single into short left-center off Oral Roberts reliever Erik Crichton (4-5), who took the loss. The ball fell a few steps out of the reach of shortstop Adam Younger to drive in Colt Sedbrook from second base with the winning run.

The game was delayed 77 minutes by lightning in the seventh inning.

Closer Jason Stoffel pitched two scoreless innings and second-seeded Arizona (41-15) improved to 35-0 when leading after seven innings.

Arizona starter Preston Guilmet (12-2) pitched seven innings for the win. Guilmet and Stoffel combined to strike out 16 batters. The Wildcats advance to tonight’s game against fourth-seed New Orleans, which beat top-seeded Wichita State, 7-6.

Arizona led 3-0 before Oral Roberts (40-16) scored one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to tie it.

Arizona’s Jon Gaston doubled to right field to drive in T.J. Steele for a 1-0 lead in the second, and the Wildcats made it 3-0 with two runs in the third inning.

Sedbrook started the inning by taking a pitch in the shoulder. He moved to third when Oral Roberts right fielder Brendan Duffy overran a single by C.J. Ziegler.

Sedbrook scored on a sacrifice fly by Rhinehart and Ziegler scored on a groundout.

The Golden Eagles cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth when Carter McQuigg singled to score Chad Rothford, who doubled to lead off the inning.
