Arizona State junior third baseman Travis Buck and freshman designated hitter Willy Fox each had four of the Sun Devils’ season-high 23 hits Saturday in a 19-1 drubbing of Western Illinois at Baton Rouge, La.

The 19 runs are a season-high for ASU (12- 11) and the most since a 22-4 victory over New Mexico last season.

Buck went 4-for-6 with four runs, two triples and four RBIs to extend his seasonhigh hitting streak to eight games. Fox was 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs.

Western Illinois (4-11) lost its eighth straight.

Senior first baseman Jeff Larish went 3-for-6 with two home runs and five RBIs. Seven Sun Devils had multiple hits, including leadoff hitter Rocky Laguna (3-for-4) and freshman reserve catcher Austin Stockfisch, who had the first two hits of his college career.

Junior starter Erik Averill (4-2) scattered seven hits and allowed only one run in five innings while striking out four and walking one.

Freshman right-hander Seth Garrison surrendered one hit and struck out five over four scoreless innings to record his first save.
