Scottsdale golfers Tim McKenney and Philip Francis were eliminated Friday in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Amateur in Longmeadow, Mass.

McKenney, who attends Desert Mountain High School, lost to Kevin Tway, son of 1986 PGA champion Bob Tway, in 21 holes after Tway rallied from three holes down with four to play.

Francis, who helped lead Notre Dame Prep to a 4A state title last season, was defeated 3 and 2 by Arnond Vongvanij of Bradenton, Fla.

Tway, who turns 17 today, won his afternoon semifinal by making a 5-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole. He will face Bradley Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., in today’s championship match.
