Book signing: The authors of “The American Muslim Teenager’s Handbook,” Dilara Hafiz; her daughter, Yasmine Hafiz; and her son, Imran Hafiz, all of Paradise Valley, will sign their book noon to 2 p.m. July 12 at the East-West Exchange bookstore, 2051 W. Warner Road. The book examines Muslim beliefs, along with commentary and quotes from American Muslim teenagers. Chapters begin with excerpts from the Quran and a teen-friendly interpretation of verses, then offer examples to illustrate the essence of Muslim life. (480) 835-6010.

Divorce support: Three support groups are being offered at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 739 W. Erie St. GriefShare meets 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Those interested in forming new divorce-related groups, DivorceCare and DivorceCare for Kids, are asked to sign up, with the dates and times of meetings to be determined by participants. Support group: Crossroads will meet 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Central Christian Church of the East Valley, Gilbert campus, 965 E. Germann Road. For information, (480) 305-7500.


Shalom Center events: The Shalom Center on the campus of Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix, offers a variety of programs: Caring for Our Loved Ones, a Jewish support and resource group for families and caregivers, led by Gary Goodman and Rabbi Marty Scharf, meets 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the fourth Monday in the youth lounge, in cooperation with the Kivel Campus of Care. No cost, but donations welcome. Next session is July 28. JACS, a meeting to provide support to Jewish alcoholics, is 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the youth lounge. Scottsdale Job Network, a nonecumenical group open to the unemployed and underemployed, meets 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the first and third Tuesdays. Next meetings are Tuesday and July 15. Aramaic Prayer: A gathering on the Lord’s Aramaic Prayer, using song and movement to experience the words of Jesus, is held each Sunday at the Retreat at the Farm, 6106 S. 32nd St. Participants say they create a “joyful experience that frees more life energy for creative expression in daily living.” For times, call (480) 250-1888.

Disciple classes: Because of strong response, North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 11735 N. Scottsdale Road, offers two disciple classes, one for men and one for women. Bruce Reiss, a semi-retired lay speaker, and the Rev. Nd Abarikwu teach the men’s class, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the library. Celebrate recovery: Scottsdale Bible Church, 7601 E. Shea Blvd., is offering Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered program to help people break free of hurts and hang-ups. Catholic networking: The Catholic Commerce Networking Association holds a networking mixer 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at El Peñasco Mexican Kitchen, 19 E. Broadway Road. The association consists of parishioners of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix from trades and professions who network to increase one another’s visibility in the Catholic community. Cost is $10.
