Six young Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis are spending three weeks this summer primarily visiting Arizona’s smaller cities, including Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Sierra Vista, Nogales, Payson, Prescott, Sedona and several Mohave County communities.

Saying they are “equipped with books, programming ideas and lots of optimistic Jewish cheer,” the six will seek to “reinforce Jewish pride and enhance Jewish education.”

Working with Jewish communities, they will teach classes, including one on the Kaballah, host Shabbat dinners, reach out to unaffiliated Jews and make house-to-house visits.

The effort is done worldwide and has been called the “Lubavitch Summer Peace Corps.” It is also called “Judaism in a Suitcase.”
