Gilbert spent at least $25 million including state and federal funds over the last decade in upgrading and dressing up its Heritage District downtown, an amount officials and business owners say was necessary to attract visitors and development to the area.

The eastbound Red Mountain Freeway section of Loop 202 will be reduced to two lanes between 32nd and 40th streets from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday; from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
