The Chandler Police Department is accepting applications for motorist assist volunteers to respond to reports of stranded motorists, crash scenes and other non-criminal calls for service.

Last year, more than 70 volunteers dedicated more than 13,000 hours to the Chandler Police Department and the city.

The academy for volunteers will run for five consecutive weeks on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning Sept. 10 and concluding Oct. 10 with one Saturday class on Sept. 29.

Upon graduation, the volunteer will receive 50 hours of hands-on field training.

Applicants are required to donate a minimum of 16 hours per month with at least a one-year commitment to the program, must be 21 years old or older, and possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

To apply, visit www.chandlerpd.com or call (480) 782-4909 for more information.
