Believe it or not, fall is coming up soon – and that means it’ll be time for Mesa’s youth sports program to kick into high gear. The city’s Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities department is seeking volunteers to help with its Youth Sports Kickoff Celebration from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 7 at Hohokam Fields, 1235 N. Center St.

The free event will start new leagues for the fall and will be a night of family fun featuring games for all ages, prizes, food and the opportunity to register for sports programs. Kids ages 6-15 will also have the chance to compete in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick event on the Hohokam Stadium outfield.

As a volunteer, you’ll help set up the event, run interactive games for kids, walk around and mingle with the community members, help parents and kids with questions, and clean up after the event.

Interested? Contact Beverlee Nielsen at (480) 644-4345. For more information, visit www.mesaaz.gov.
