Buddy is a 5-year-old redbone hound who survived the Wallow Fire, only to be given up by his owners to the Arizona Humane Society. The shelter's emergency animal medical technicians rescued him from Springerville on June 9. He is now up for adoption at the humane society's Sunnyslope facility.

Buddy has a zest for life despite everything he's been through, and the humane society says he'd be a great companion for any hound lover. He does have thickening of the gums, making him prone to dental disease and in need of regular dental check-ups.

Buddy's adoption fee is just $35. For more information, call the humane society's Sunnyslope site at (602) 997-7585, ext. 2045, or visit the shelter at 9226 N. 13th Ave., Phoenix.
