“I’m really tired of all of (the parents in last week’s Tribune series) criticizing parents who schedule their children in a lot of group activities. Let’s face it, the world has changed. We cannot let them just go outside and play anymore.”

“Since Larry Christiansen of Mesa Community College seems to have trouble understanding parts of ‘no,’ why don’t we see if he understands the parts of ‘you’re fired’?”

“Michael Crow wants to raise the tuition at ASU another 9 percent... But Crow wants to get into real estate development? I say quit sending my tax dollars to ASU.”

“People say the Patriot Act is taking away freedoms? Well, this new smoking ban … proves that we’ve all become a bunch of babbling idiots that don’t know how to live our life without the government telling us what to do.”

“This is for bar owners out in Scottsdale whining and crying about the smoking ban. If New York City and California can get away without having any problem, why can’t Scottsdale?”

“I’m a smoker but a nondrinker. To you good Samaritans who voted in no smoking, I’m going to help to save your life. I’m going to put a stop to drinking in restaurants because it’s also bad for your health.”

“It’s too bad (Pat) Tillman was killed by friendly fire. But many others servicemen have been also. So why just single out him?”

“The Republicans lost the election, but at least I saved money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.”

“Regarding the snafu on the sports page on (Thursday), how we can stay mad at anybody with a name like (Executive Sports Editor) Bob Romantic?”

“I don’t know why the paper is printing all of this big deal about Jeff Groscost. He passed away. But we have to remember he cost the taxpayers more than $160 million.”

“It’s really sad when somebody so young dies. But please stop all of the tributes to the Jeff Groscost. He was nothing more than a con-man and a bad politician.”

“Hands down, Jeff Groscost is the most charismatic person I have ever met in my life. May he rest in peace.”

“Janet Napolitano is a great politician. Unfortunately, Arizona needs a leader, not a great politician.”

“Now that Napolitano and Goddard have been re-elected, are they going to rewrite Prop. 300 to suit themselves, as they did with Proposition 200 in the last (general) election?”

“A little squeeze for a mammogram is a small price to pay when you walk away cancer-free. I didn’t, but the test saved my life and that of many others.”

“If there’s a high pollution advisory, why is that guy blowing dust off the sidewalk into the street where it’s just going to get blown back onto the sidewalk?”

“We conservatives voted in the Martin Luther King holiday, the only state in the union to vote in it. So why are you (in the Vent) making wisecracks about us?”

“The message from this election to George Bush? You’re not the decider. The American public is the decider.”
