“Women’s suffrage, integration, interracial marriage, rock ’n roll music. Christianity was against all of these on the grounds they would destroy marriage and the family and harm children. The Orphan Trains of the 19th century, Prohibition. Christianity was in favor of both of these disasters. It occurs to me that over the past 150 years or so, Christianity has been on the wrong side of most every moral dilemma America has faced.”

“Enjoy your day in the sun, because in less than four years someone like Sarah Palin is going to ask this question: 'Are you better off now than you were four years ago?’ And no amount of spin or propaganda from the so-called 'news’ organizations will be able to convince folks they are better off if they really aren’t.”

“A lot of people are driving with their driving lights on. Some of these lights are very bright and can blind on coming drivers. They wouldn’t drive with their high beams on but for some reason think it’s OK to blind drivers with these driving lights. It is illegal to drive with them on in some states, I wish it were here, too. Please turn them off.”

“To be a kinder and gentler nation, we are no longer calling it 'the war on terror.’ We are now calling it 'blatant action of misplaced animosity from those who dislike capitalistic entities.’ ”

“Well, I missed the boat again. I am a retired teacher with really no money. If I had not paid my federal taxes I might be the new secretary of education. Why am I always a day late and a dollar short!”

“We were told the new 'off-road sticker’ was not going to be double taxation, but I just got a notice I have to renew my license, get an off-road sticker, and now get emission tested. No, it’s not double taxation, it’s triple taxation! Government run amok again!”

“I wish U.S. citizens serving prison sentences were treated as well as those spending time at Gitmo. I wished I had lived in such conditions while serving my country in a combat zone, protecting you from the likes of those the enemy prisoners of war at Gitmo.”

“Does anyone actually believe that freeway cameras are actually making anyone safer? What planet do you live on? Stop fooling yourself. Once everyone learns where they are, they only slow down when they’re near them. Taking somebody’s picture going 100 mph is no deterrent.”

“It’s not the snowbirds or the speed cameras that are the problem. It’s the careless and speedy driving of Arizonians. Get off your phone, be observant and slow down.”

“Hats off to the Red Mountain and Mesa High (schools) boys’ soccer teams. They played for the region championship on Wednesday night and both teams played with a lot of passion and pride. It was a great game, and the nice thing about it was it was free to watch. Forget those high-price professionals. In my opinion, all those young men from both schools are champions!”

“I wish the police department of Mesa would enforce the law about not allowing commercial trucks to be parked on the street overnight. The city needs money. so they might as well start fining these people who disregard the law. How long does it take to write a ticket?”

“All out-of-work people should rejoice. The House stimulus package gives $2.5 million to the National Endowment For The Arts. We can all learn to sing and dance for our supper.”
