There’s something going on here, but I’m not exactly sure what. Either you are so mad at us that you’ve stopped communicating, or the start of 2009 has brought so much peace and love to the East Valley that nobody has anything to vent about anymore.

There’s something going on here, but I’m not exactly sure what. Either you are so mad at us that you’ve stopped communicating, or the start of 2009 has brought so much peace and love to the East Valley that nobody has anything to vent about anymore.

Have more to say? Send in your vent

A year ago, we added the option of sending in vents by e-mail at vent@evtrib.com. Honestly, we expected Vent contributors would take advantage of e-mail and reduce the volume of daily phone calls that already were overwhelming our opinion staff.

We knew a number of venters were writing out their submissions beforehand anyway, so here was their chance to get something in the Vent without taking the extra steps of dialing and reading it over the telephone. And a number of people did start writing us e-mails, but the phone calls never dropped off.

With the recent changes at the Tribune, we simply don’t have the manpower to filter 150 to 200 phone messages a day, pick the best ones and transcribe them for the Vent. So we made the reluctant decision to stop accepting phone calls and focus solely on e-mails sent to vent@evtrib.com.

The result this week has been almost deafening silence, even after the new, free Tribune arrived at your doorstep on Wednesday and Friday. The Vent will thrive or die because of you and what you are willing to share with your fellow Tribune readers.

So, come on, get on your computer, or visit a friend who has one, and send us your thoughts at vent@evtrib.com. There’s got to be something that has you so fired up that you want the whole world to know about it.

“Can anybody help me please? I’ve been searching high and low in the Arizona rules of the road for where it is says if you are from out of state and if you have white or blue hair, it’s required to drive 10 miles under the posted speed limit.”

“On a recent trip to southern California I witnessed an event that we don’t see here: work being done a freeway at night to expand it two more lanes. ADOT should go there to see how not to inconvenience its drivers and how to work at night.”

“In reading the Tribune, I hope Arizona does not go for mileage fees in driving. Some of us drive long ways to work every day and have no other way to commute. This would be sticking it to the people who live in outlying areas further away from their job.”

“Can someone tell me why the rich people have to brag how much, like to $2 (million) to $4 million that they paid for their home? And what do they pay in taxes when it is set up in a trust?”

“To the radical leftists who say religion doesn’t belong in the military, the 'p’ on my dog tags didn’t stand for pacifist.”

“I would like to thank the Tribune for all of the years they allowed me to shoot my mouth in the Vent and letters. It made my husband happy, too, because he didn’t have to listen to my venting.”
