“The person who wrote about retention pay does not have all the facts. I worked for the city of Mesa for 18 years before I retired. Employees who were hired before July 1992 receive stability pay. That was one of the benefits when they were hired and it cannot be taken away. They earned it. There are not many employees who still receive stability pay. Most have retired.”

"You say Republicans own the state (Vent, Wednesday), then your list includes (Mary Rose) Wilcox, a Democrat, as part of the problem. I guess Republican is your new word for anyone you don’t like.”

“The Democrats keep bragging about how much the seniors love Medicare, a single-payer, government plan. Do the Democrats really think they are going to love Medicare after they slice and dice $500 billion worth of funding from this plan? The end result is health care rationing for seniors. We may be old, but we’re not senile.”

“Come on! ABBA being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? They have nothing to do with rock and roll. Disco and pop music for sure. All the while, Todd Rundgren is

on the outside looking in. Who makes these decisions?”

“To all those out there charmed by Sarah Palin’s 'folksy demeanor’: I remember the characters on 'Green Acres’ and 'The Andy Griffith Show’ had lots of folksy charm — but I sure as heck wouldn’t vote for them if they were running for office!”

“We found out 800,000 doses of H1N1 (vaccine) for our kids was no good. Did (President Barack) Obama get on the TV and tell us? No, he was at Home Depot talking about caulking. Just another case where he shows he does not care about the safety of our children.”

“A person’s home is their castle. Home invasion is so wrong. We should be, and also feel, safe in our homes. A person caught should be put to death immediately, no second trial, no delay. We have to take back our lives.”

“I wish the Tribune would post the names of bands performing at dances (Senior Circuit) in the Sunday paper. There are good bands and not so good bands. We have preferences.”
