“What happened to all the bailout money the banks received? I know 10 people that tried to modify their home loans and after doing everything the bank asked, they got turned down. What a scam.”

“There may be some good reasons to shorten the number of days for the school year, but the fact that August is hot is not one of them. What, do these people think the kids sit outside during their sessions? Truth is, the classrooms are air conditioned, surprise! And the students don’t go out when the temperature hits a certain level. They will never get away with cutting pay for teachers, custodians, health aides, etc, even though they will be putting in the same hours.”

“What makes local air conditioning and carpet cleaning companies think that I would do business with them when the first contact they have with me is through their violation of the federal ‘Do Not Call’ law? It’s not difficult: Check the data base before you make the call. Gee, is that so hard?”

“Quote from Rahm Emanuel: ‘You never let a serious crisis go to waste.’ In his State of the Union speech, Obama seemed to consider Tucson that ‘serious crisis’ and converted it to his own political agenda. What was he trying to prove?”

    First Ventor:

There was a follow up on the Federal program to modify mortgages, likely the one you address, not the Bank Bailout program. Much of the bailout money has been repaid. Most of it will be repaid.

The Modification moneys, about $125 million in AZ, are parked in a bank account. The state administrators cannot get the big banks to match these funds to permit the loan balances to be lowered. I say, to heck with those big bank. Bring back exclusive State Banking Regulations and break up the consumer banking industry. We do not a national banking industry for non-consumer issues.

The one bank which did match is a State chartered Bank!

    Second Ventor:

Points well taken. But I expect we all will have to sacrifice, doing much more for much less, in order to turn this economy around. The last time we fell this far, it took sacrifice motivated by WW2 to get us down to basics.

    Third Ventor:

I feel your pain. I'm on that list and when I get called, these call center employees hand up before I can get them to switch me to their supervisors.

    Fourth Ventor:

The President was invited. No one solicited him to ask for an invitation. His remarks helped lift up both Tucson and those and their familes who were adversely effected.

Shame on you for trying to make Jan 8th into a crisis! Obviously you voted for McCain. Do you think McCain would have stayed in DC? Oh wait. In response to the originally financial crisis, we was late in responding. He cancelled a TV appearnace, saying he had to go to DC, but then went elsewhere. What crisis was he responding to?

    P.S.

First Venter: "We do not NEED a national banking industry for non-consumer issues."

Second Venter: I just had my first call on my new home number. While changing numbers does not get one away from telemarketers, it does give one a second opporutunity to become registered. But it takes 31 days on the registry before you can complain. However today, I complained after having been on the registry for only a few days. First I talked the caller into transferring me to the supervisor. Then, using my caller ID, I told the sup I had their number. But I did not tell him I had just registered. Then he told me a lie, that his calling a registered Do Not Call number only requires them to add the number to their list, in effect giving them a second chance. This lie gave me grounds to nail these B______ds.

So, use your caller ID and go on lie to complain. It leads to the imposition of fines! And money is what drives telemarketers.

Nothing is going to happen or change untill we elect a congress that the banks do'nt have in their pockets. The banks and lenders will contiue to shove it to us as usual. I wonder who is getting all the intrest that that money is most likely earning? Our Elected officials don't run this country, the banks do.
