“To all of you fans of the Chicago Cubs, go back to Chicago. I’m a native Arizonan and I cheer for Arizona teams. I have loved the Diamondbacks since they began.”

“I can take the bus to Tempe Marketplace. But there’s no bus going to Riverview. There’s police protection at Tempe Marketplace. There’s no police protection at Riverview. So guess where I’m going to shop?”

“Want to solve the state’s budget crisis? You can start by making motorists get Arizona plates. I’ve got a neighbor who’s been here for two years and still has South Dakota plates on. Let’s make everyone pay for using our roads.”

“I’m calling about the woman who was handcuffed and died at Sky Harbor (airport). I can’t imagine why, just because someone was upset, you would shackle them to a table. What was her crime?”

“If the woman at the airport was so far out of control, why didn’t they call paramedics instead of taking it upon themselves to put her in a cell and have her handcuffed? With her screaming and everything else, maybe someone could have talked to her.”

“Absent Hoodini-like skills, how can anyone handcuffed strangle themselves and die?”

“I think Rep. (Mark) DeSimone is 100 percent wrong. He thinks every Arizonan should vote in the (presidential) primary, even those who decided to register independent (Opinion 2, Tuesday). They registered independent because they did not want to be in a Democratic or a Republican party … They should not be voting at all. They are not part of a party.”

“I really like the new fare boxes on the Valley/Metro buses. There’s only one problem. It would be a lot more convenient if we could use a debit card on it. Maybe more people would ride the bus.”

“Hillary Clinton wants to be president so bad that she’s now converted to bribery. She’s offered every newborn baby $5,000 if she’s elected. If that’s not bribery, I don’t know what else you’d call it.”

“This law banning text messaging is impossible to enforce. But it has real merit. It tells parents you had better get control of your kids.”

“In answer to a question, Sen. McCain said he ‘yes, I would vote for a Muslim if he shared my values.’ This answer was appalling on three levels — either betraying an appalling fear of making Muslims angry, an appalling ignorance of Islam, or an equally appalling ignorance of the Judeo-Christian tradition.”

“Just as I thought, somebody was going to try to defend Rush Limbaugh (Vent, Tuesday). No, he was not referring to a dropout from boot camp … That was his way of trying to weasel out when he got caught. I heard the entire segment, without editing, right from Rush Limbaugh. He called soldiers who have fought in Iraq phony soldiers.”

“Obviously, Harry Reed and all of the liberals do not like Rush Limbaugh to talk their language. No, no, no, no. But they can put the soldiers down themselves, call them terrorists and killers.”

“I’m 48 years old. I have served my time in the military. And I cheerlead this war. Am I a phony soldier? I have served my time. Do I need to serve it again?”
