The other side “knows” more about your party’s platform than you do--and it is offensive to them!
Most of the time, you remember only what you like about your own party’s platform.
Politicians are many, but statesmen are few -- and “talking heads” are a dime a dozen.
It was more interesting to debate about things far away, but it is very important to focus on matters (propositions, school board members, county supervisors, etc. ) that have a more immediate effect on your life.
The political system of our country once again worked as it was designed.
Nice guys may not finish last, but behaving as a gentleman, will not always win you the prize.
It is a greater challenge to be a gracious winner, than it is to be a conciliatory loser.
You can still be part of the solution — if you so choose.
The best is yet to come; strive for it!

Truth: Didn't Obama issue an Executive order to attack a foreign country WITHOUT getting permission from the Senate or House?

Yes Dale Whiting, I am quite sure that people thought President Obama was better on the economy. People surely thought there was no way he could ring up another 6 trillion in debt after having just done so. No way he could do nothing about 8%ish unemployment for another 4 years as he had just done. And certainly the ill effects of Obamacare that has yet to fully implement could only get better and not worse. Yup, it is the economy stupid, apparently the voters must have thought the economy meant something else.

Patrick,
Nice list...most of it very true...especially the lack of statesmen, in our officeholders. I think the last person that anyone could even remotely agree was a statesman, was probably Adlai Stevenson...and that was what, 40 yrs. ago?
Reminds me of a B. B. King song--"Nobody loves me but my mother, and she could be jivin', too."
I found it strange, that, for some reason, this time I was more disappointed than usual, in the local elections...I mean, nothing much changed here, except for a couple of the "token" Democratic positions narrowly won...and, even that change was only because of the re-districting. I can't really put my finger on why the disappointment--other than, as I get older, I tend to get a little less patient with those of us who want to return to a time before that never was, instead of a time ahead, that could be...

I forget. Just which of the several stages of grieving is denial? The first, isn't it!
Wake up all of you Neo-cons out there and smell the roses. It's high time for a reality check. If it takes us 3 years to get over it, we will lose again in 2016. Where once we all said "It's the economy, stupid!" now we know that "Stupid is as stupid does" and in 2012 we Republicans were stupid.

Europe: For us, it was not so important that Obama win, but rather that Romney lose.
Were a Republican to return to the White House, the world would get another round of "unilateral interventionism, bellicosc arrogance, utterly irresponsible foreign policy, and environmental hooliganaism." and Romney win would have has an immediate negative effect. European leaders-such as German Chancellor Merkel-who beiieve that "financial savagery" in the form of austerity is the solution to echonomic crisis would have felt bolstered in their mistaken assumptions. Hurricane Sandy has given a powerful lesson in the benefit of big government. When the super-storm smashed into the Eastern Seabord, FEMA agency rushed into action. WIthin 76 hours, it had deployed over 2,270 disaster-relief personnel so several states, carried out 700 rescues, provided shelter to almost 11,000 people, and delivered more than 660,000 gallons of water and 1.5 million meals. Republicans, however, would prefer to stop FEMA from carrying out this life saving work. The New York Times House Republicans have proposed slashing the agency's funding by up to 40%, and have repeatedly insisted that "disaster relief should be turned back to states and the private sector. If Romney had won, I could have sung that classic song:
“Nah nah
Nah nah nah nah
Hey, hey, hey
Good-bye”
Instead, I’ll dance to the “Whopman Gangman style” song.
Not that I'm much of a dancer. [smile]
