Ms. Turley, it is your very own GOP party who has an outright war on the women of this nation. There is only one party out there that seeks to control what a woman does with her own body at every turn. That party, Ms. Turley, is your party.

When the GOP seek to take a woman’s right, not a god-given right, because we all know, those of us who are a free thinking people that is, that there was never any god. Only the fictional character that was created some 2,012 years ago, by a man nonetheless.

But back to my point. The Democratic party isn’t trying to manipulate women like the GOP party is. The Dems aren’t offering “freebies” to women as you insist, just a choice. Do you honestly believe that a majority of the women in this nation believe the GOP is good for them? My answer would be no. That is unless you like being told what freedoms and choices you have, which have been dictated by men in higher positions.

The GOP have had an outright war on a person’s choice for as long as I can remember. If they succeed in stopping women from having choices, where do those laws stop? The GOP are trying to ban being gay in America, all in the name of the Bible. I thought religions were “accepting” and “tolerant” of others? I guess all I learned at Tri-City and Grace Community religious schools from K-6th grade was just a bunch of lies. And you know what, Ms. Turley? It is. One-hundred percent of what’s in the babble is hogwash. Religion is a man-made lie. Religions seek to divide, rather than include. Religions are intolerant of others who won’t cater to, bow down to and serve without question.

Ms. Turley, if the GOP gets their way, America will be a very sad nation indeed. We will be forced to bow to one religion, that being Christianity. America will be forced to say prayers each day. We will have no choices of whom we could marry if the GOP gets their way. Ms. Turley, your vision and the GOP vision for America is skewed and seeks to revert America back to the dark ages. America is moving forward and hopefully to better days without the GOP at the helm. They destroyed this nation through tax cuts, war and hatred for anyone who doesn’t side with them. America is not, was not ever founded as a Christian nation. Our Founding Fathers were way smarter than we are today. They knew mixing religion and government doesn’t work. Too bad the GOP haven’t gotten that memo.

Good letter, Jason...I suspect the usual Bronze Age fairytale worshippers will be all over your letter soon.

Many of them will take offense to ""America is not, was not ever founded as a Christian nation." - namely because they are ignorant and uneducated.

To those people, my offer still stands - $1000 in cash for every instance of God, Jesus or the Bible in the Constitution of the United States of America.
(Hint - they're not in there anywhere)

hate people of faith. You just want to pray for them. :o)

1,000,000 human baby abortions since Barack Hussein Obama became President. There is no "GOP War on Women"....only a war on the Femi-gnatsies that refuse to practice ..."SAFE SEX". Then go to a Planned Parenthood tax-payer supported "Abortion Clinic" to have the fetus killed.

If the GOP is having a War = it's against "baby killers".

Jason – why so angry? Man didn’t create God 2012 years ago. Jesus was born 2012 years ago and his Jewish disciples and he formed a sect that later developed into Christianity. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were written from 150 to 300 years after Jesus’ death. While the New Testament relates primarily to Christian beliefs, the Old Testament correlates in many ways to other Abrahamic religions of Judaism and Islam which incorporate beliefs and history dating back thousands of years before Christ. Gods of one type or another have been created for thousands of years before that, many around Mesopotamia and the middle eastern area regarded as the “Cradle of Civilization.” Don’t forget the formal religion of Egypt from around 3000 BC. That’s over 5000 years ago. Religion seems to be an innate characteristic of our species.

Don’t be angry with people for choosing to believe in something greater than themselves. If you were a priest, shaman or medicine man in an early culture you would have to come up with answers to questions regarding creation and unexplained phenomena. The priest usually served as advisor to the king so if he wanted to keep his job he created rituals and trappings to embellish it. It is no different today because for the most part we still can’t answer the same questions. If one doesn’t question the answers, it may work for them. Religion also provides social ritual, comfort, fellowship, a moral code, purpose and a sense of belonging to those who can accept the supernatural premise.

If you want to be angry at Christian fundamentalists for trying to force their beliefs down your throat and high jacking the GOP, go for it, but focus your anger constructively or you’ll just self destruct.

"America is not, was not ever founded as a Christian nation. Our Founding Fathers were way smarter than we are today. They knew mixing religion and government doesn’t work." REALLY. "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."
    Patrick Henry
"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."
--The Writings of George Washington, pp. 342-343.
"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."
--Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, p. 9.

@ Dale.. No really the dark ages is fitting for the GOP and their stances.

@ Leon.. You are the with the problems on this board.,. What proof do you have for the number of "abortions" on Obama's watch as President? Is that just more Rush or Hannity talking out your backside again?

I am a proud godless liberal. Very happy to be living my life not kowtowing to anyone and any made up belief system that keeps people oppressed.

@ onerebel.. Please GW is the best you came up with? James Madison thought it was unwise to make our nation have 1 religion. Why do you think America was founded onerebel? Not because of taxes, etc.. Its because the King of England was forcing 1 religion upon all his subjects throughout the kingdom. Yes our founding fathers were very much smarter than we are today. They were Federalists back then. Keeping things apart is a good idea. If you want a national religion go live in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, etc.. This is America, keep YOUR religion to yourself.. Isn't YOUR fake religionship with your made up spirits in the sky between you and them? Why MUST all Americans have to hear that garbage on tv, in the public square? Somethings are meant to be personal. Religion is one of them!

@ chatmandu.. Pray for yourself and your lost soul.. Religion will keep you in the dark for eternity. Pull your head out that babble you read and open your eyes..

I love being godless.. Its nice, its a relief really.. I don't have to subscribe to anyone's way of doing things, except my way. Religion has never done 1 good thing.. It keeps people separated, keeps people in despair and dashes their hopes of a better life! Religions hate others who wont conform. Religions teach and preach hatred, plain and simple!!

redsox420, you are a lost soul. Religions do NOT preach hatred. I don't hate anybody. Not one person.

I don't always like what they do, but nobody deserves hatred. NOBODY. Just visit my church next Sunday, if you want. I won't force you to. You can go to any one of my churches, it doesn't matter. Just look for the name of my Church: The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. You can't miss it.

" James Madison wrote many parts of it; he is known as the father of our Constitution."

    You mean THIS James Madison?
"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries."

    Darn those pesky facts! LOL

    You mean THIS James Madison?
"And as it is our duty to extend our wishes to the happiness of the great family of man, I conceive that we cannot better express ourselves than by humbly supplicating the Supreme Ruler of the world that the rod of tyrants may be broken to pieces, and the oppressed made free again; that wars may cease in all the earth, and that the confusions that are and have been among nations may be overruled by promoting and speedily bringing on that holy and happy period when the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ may be everywhere established, and all people everywhere willingly bow to the sceptre of Him who is Prince of Peace."
--As Governor of Massachusetts, Proclamation of a Day of Fast, March 20, 1797.
    James Madison
How about this for a pesky fact?[beam]

redsox said, "I love being godless.. Its nice, its a relief really.. I don't have to subscribe to anyone's way of doing things, except my way. Religion has never done 1 good thing." That could be the Liberal motto right there, I'm looking out for me. As for religion not doing one good thing. Ask all the poor they have given food, clothes and shelter to. Ask the people in countries around the world that churches have built clinics, schools and fresh water wells for. So Mr. Godless if your going to bash religion for not doing enough, impress us with examples of your vast generosity for someone other then yourself!

I wonder if onerebel realizes he just proved my point that religious people contradict themselves on a regular basis...

    Nah, probably not! [beam]

    Things religion does? Let’s see…

    Crusades, kill Muslims…
    Witch hunts, kill accused innocents…
    9/ll, kill infidels…
    Taliban, kill infidels…
    Nazis, kill Jews…
    English Kings, kill Catholics…
    Irish Catholics, kill Protestants…
    Inquisitions, kill and torture…
    etc. etc. etc.

Reb... Not assigning blame. Just noting that throughout history, religion has been a major ingredient in every man caused (and according to Biblical History many God caused) events that resulted in serious loss, destruction, hardship, unhappiness, or death of man or the environment. You may not be able to blame the forest for the fire but it does provide the fuel.

"So Mr. Godless if your going to bash religion for not doing enough, impress us with examples of your vast generosity for someone other then yourself! "

Well first off, your stats are false; secular charities donated more to the poor in this country since 2006 than all religious affiliations combined (heck, Bill Gates contributions ALONE surpass that of religion!)

As for me? I can guarantee I donate more time and money to local charities in a week than you do for the entire year. I put in several hours every day (yes, I said EVERY DAY) with local nonprofit charities, donating time and money.

Now let's hear YOUR humanitarian efforts. Surely they'll make mine look insubstantial. ;)

onerebel: you said " As for religion not doing one good thing. Ask all the poor they have given food, clothes and shelter to. "

Religion hasn't done any of that.

    Churches did.

    There is a difference.

Churches do a lot of good. They would be a lot better if we could get the religion(s) out of them.

Religions, on the other hand, have provided motivation for most of the wars throughout history.

Even today the Middle East is a bunch of people constantly fighting each other over some arcane differences between their sects.

Trying to bring peace to them is like seeing a man and wife in a big knockdown drag out argument and if you step into it you will just get hammered from both sides.
