An Oct. 30 letter to the editor asked the question, “What if the pilgrims were Muslim instead of Christian? What would this wonderful country be like?”
The answer isn’t really hard, this country would be like the Arab countries in the Middle East.

There are more than one billion Muslims in the world today. They are concentrated in Africa and Southeast Asia. If you reflect on these countries, you could project that vision back to earlier times. Islam has been around since the 7th Century. My vision says that we would be a third world country with a theocracy led government. As with all religious sects, they are slow to change and Sharia Law would be the law of the land. As with all religions, they are very dictatorial.

Try reading the responses given by me and by Rich to the original question asked. Rich and I know history so much better than do you that all three of you appear to be ignorant, certainly ignorant of historical and relevant current fact.
While ignorance may be bliss to a mind which is not capable of processing more difficult questions, it is Hell on the Earth where it must be tolerated. If you have time to post to this blog, you should have time to read!

Indonesia is also another example of what this country would have become, if the first colonists were Muslim instead of Christian.
The Indonesian country fell under the rising power of the Islamized Sultanate of Demak in 1520. Islam became the dominant religion in Indonesia, where Islamic law became totalitarian in nature. Indonesia now has the largest Muslim population than any other country in the world.
Muslim majorities never happened in this “New World” nation during or after the 1600s. And if you give it some really serious thought, you're probably thankful that God has blessed you with the good fortune to live in this blessed nation. Living in America is about as good as it gets -- here on earth.

English Pilgrims landed in Plymouth, MASS circa 1600s. Meanwhile, the North African Berber Muslim Moor invaders of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain & Portugal) just got finished being defeated by t he Spanish Catholic Christian Kings with the fall of the Andalusian city of Granada in 1492 after 800+years of Christian vs. Muslim warfare in Spain (714 A.D. with the Muslim invasion of Spain & the defeat the Spanish Visigoth King Roderic (aka Rodrigo) at the Battle of Guadalete. With Spanish Conquistador Hernando Cortez conquering the Aztec Empire in Mexico/New Spain in 1521-1525 with 1,000 Spanish troops, killing over 100,000 AZTEC warriors of Moctezuma with spears & swords, I think any Muslims Jihadist would have second thoughts about fighting the Spaniards again after being butchered by the gross on the Iberian Peninsula for 800+ years by the Spanish "Catholic" Christian Kings. BTW, Spain was the richest nation in the known world from the 1500s-1600s with the Spanish Habsburg King Charles V & his Portuguese Queen Isabelle of Portugal rulling most of Europe as the "Holy Roman Emperor & Empress," owning most of North America (Alta & Baja California, New Mexico Territory, Texas, Florida, Hispanola, New Spain, New Granada (South America)...that no Muslim in his right "Mahdi" mind would want to cross swords with the bloodthirsty "Spanish Catholic CRUSADERs."...Ummm, I think there's a lesson OBAMA, the EU & other cowardly "Christian" nations of to learn from the Spanish Conquistadors. I believe it's called "FEAR" as being a great deterrent of being attacked by an aggressor. It worked during the Cold War with the USSR vs U.S.A., & should work fine on the cowardly Arab Al-Queda, Jihadist terrorist.

This is a quite wonderful speculation. However to understand it and forecast it takes a lot of research. For example, as Islam moved through Asia, how did it change? How is a Pakistani or Indonesian belief different from that of a Sunni Arab or a Shi'ite Persian? To speculate on Plymouth/Boston, and what was a fundamental change of Christianity in contact with a new world and apply it to Islam, is an incredibly fascinating question. But to understand it, you must first understand both Christianity and Islam. That takes a lot of work. It's easier just to say 'Islam sucks." Doesn't get you closer to God, but it's easier.

I have lived in Islamic counties, have roomed with Muslims and have had Muslims as close acquaintenances for years.
