A letter in the April 3 Tribune referred to the Philadelphia Inquirer as “the city’s major black newspaper.” The writer is entitled to his opinions about why stories he considers important are not given more prominent display in that paper.

He is not entitled, however, to his own “facts.” The Inquirer is the major newspaper in the city, with the fifteenth largest average weekday U.S. newspaper circulation.

Given the evident care with which your publication is edited, I was quite surprised to see this easily checked error in print. Your standards are higher than those at the Phoenix daily, and some of your readers are most appreciative.
