Sometimes there are points where conservatives like me can totally agree with President Obama. Consider the following:
The national unemployment rate when Obama took office was 7.8 percent. Today it was reported at 8.2 percent. The 7.8 percent figure at the beginning of Obama’s term represents the “good old days” because that was the lowest rate at any time during his administration. The discouraged workers who have given up looking for work are not counted in the current unemployment statistic. If you include them, this puts the real unemployment rate at around 10.9 percent.
Many other economic statistics are bleak as well. Average household net worth is down nearly 40 percent since 2007. Real median weekly earnings have dropped 3 percent on Obama’s watch. The list goes on and on.
I disagree with President Obama on nearly everything. But this is one point he made where I do agree. Consider this quote from Obama, made on Feb. 2, 2009 on a “Today Show” interview:
“One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years … If I don’t have this done in three years there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
This is President Obama in his own words. And I wholeheartedly agree.
