Sunday’s guest commentary by Tom Patterson reeked of the same old Republican, right-wing blather. Gov. Brewer finally showed some common sense and vetoed bills that had no business being law. She showed a bit of independent, critical thinking. Maybe she’s not the lock-step-child of Russell Pearce... maybe.

Patterson reminds me of my definition of a liberal: a conservative who’s just been arrested. The governor didn’t whiff; she blew a fastball past you boys of slumber.

Although I disagree with Tom Patterson, DJ, you ignored the rhetoric from the left side of the aisle as well. I hear a lot of blather from liberal politicians such as Steve Gallardo who seem to think that illegal immigration is acceptable.

D.J. Diebold’s daily opinion “Letters to Editor” (published, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday).

Diebold’s sarcastic summary this time: “The governor didn’t whiff; she blew a fastball past you boys of slumber.”

Why? Because, during the legislative session, Gov. Jan Brewer has only approved 350 out of 380?

In part of the stinging round of (30 only) vetoes; Being a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, but this year Gov. Brewer vetoed a guns-on-campus bill and a gun-related measure. Brewer's an ardent backer of state sovereignty, but she vetoed a bill that would have given the Arizona secretary of state sole authority to determine whether candidates for president to prove their citizenship with a long-form birth certificate or similar documentation.

    Hey, Guys

Any conclusion that Governor Brewer has become a moderate is way to premature. I'd guess she is leary of becoming another Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann [the object of night time TV comics] and is trying hard to moderate herself. But she's got a long way to go!

Wonder what Buzz would have done? Guess we'll never know!
