This is in response to Leon Ceniceros’s letter of Dec. 7, entitled “Was it always this bad?” The answer to that question, of course, is no, it was not. The main reason for all the negative changes in our great land is the substitution of the bible and its guiding principles with a liberal secularism in most facets of public life. Where the Eternal Creator and His creeds were once revered in this country, one now finds a relative moralism.
What feels good is the new directive. It is more common for a teenager to be exposed to drugs, guns, violence, alcohol, casual sex, and cigarettes than a bible or anything holy. Not only is the bible missing from schools, television, music, movies and government, God & Jesus are often mocked in those same forums. In fact, in many areas of the country, Christians are mocked more often for their beliefs than homosexuals are for theirs! Kids in public schools are taught that we likely evolved from apes and that man determines what is right and wrong. There is no divine code of ethics for these vulnerable young minds to adopt.
So, is it any wonder that our nation is falling apart, much as ancient Rome did centuries ago? A major revival in this land is our only hope for redemption.

Give me a break, read some history books, what religion is and will always be is a excuse to butcher others. Start with the crusades when the crusaders raped, murdered and sacked everyone who stood in their way. Try the Spanish inquisition, bend at the knee or die. Then there is the war of the Roses, bloody Mary burn baby burn. How about Europeans who killed everyone that stood in their way so they could claim the new world. I could list thousands of references of history of what great religions have done in the name of God. Jim if you have ever read a history book you would know Rome had been a Christian state for 300 years before they fell. That or you can continue to believe the two thousand years of corrupt religious leaders who have rewritten the Bible hundreds of times.

Jim,
Sadly "truth" is correct. More wars have been waged in the name of religious truth than have not! More corruption has been sponsored by people faking religious ferver than we faithful will admit.
So climb down from that lofty height you would have us all believe you are perched on, and get out there to follow the "Prince of Peace." Stop blaming others for your perceived changes in society. Corruption, both individual, business and political has been arround since the days of Cesear!
And just how does one follow the Prince of Peace if not by critisizing others? Try reading Matthew 5 slowly and thoughtfully again. In fact, go all the way through the entire Sermon on the Mount. It'l do you much good.

I forgot one very important subject the Cathlic church came up with a scale on how human other people were for example if you were european you were totaly human if you were black, indian or some other you were 4/5 human that meant your property could be taken from you and you could be enslaved with the churchs blessing.

Jim your right! Name me one group that didn't butcher people at one time in history? Even the Norwegians, one of the most love thy neighbor groups now, were once blood thirsty Vikings. Yet the left points to them as an example of how we should be, and then curses Christians for their past. Don't forget is was the Christians that were used by the Roman's as lion treats. When was the last time a Baptist blew up a bus ? Or a Lutheran army went on a raping and murdering spree? If Religion is nothing but an excuse to butcher others then why do they feed and cloth the poor ? Why do they build clinics, schools and dig fresh water wells in country's around the world ? I personally give to ministries like building homes for the poor in Mexico, and a ministry that helps gets young girls in prostitution off the streets. Yet I'm just one of the Christian butchers that do no good deeds. Most Christian give 10% of their income to such causes yet I'm sure that pales in comparison to what you secular Liberals give ? It must or that would make you hypocrites. Did I hear glass in a glass house just break !

Jim -Trying to mix morality with religious belief is only valid when you have a personal moral compass. Blame the breakdown of family structure, erosion of social principles and loss of role models if you will, but replacing such things with religious dictatorship is even worse. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and religious power corrupts religion. Securlar morality is far superior to religious morality. You should be doing moral things because they’re the right thing to do, not to avoid going to Hell or for personal gain.
1Reb - Last time? How about the Oklahoma bombing? Timothy McVeigh was a Catholic. How about Anders Behring Breivik who massacred more than 70 people in Norway last July? He was a self proclaimed Christian. Homosexuals versus beliefs? Ask the church, priesthood, Jimmy Bakker and others how much belief has to do with sexual misconduct. Sending your money so others can do your work doesn’t make you any less responsible for conditions you blame on others.

Jim, you know you are close to the target when the shots get louder. "Truth" (ironic) may find this hard to belive, but the pastor of any church I have ever been in didn't mention a single thing about murdering my fellow man. In fact, they have all talked about helping others whenever possible and generally have worked to help those in the community. Conversly, you can watch movies, TV, listen to music, or read many of the pop culture magazines and here and see people glorifying vulgarity, violence, and perversion. I think that is what Jim is saying. I think mist people who are telling the "truth" see that too.

@ sockratties, What specific churches sent McVeigh and Anders Behring Breivik to do the killings ? So according to your logic if all Christians are guilty what those two did then all Liberals are guilty for what Charles Manson or any non Christian does. How about you show me some statistics on how many people are killed each year by Christians compared to non Christians. As far as chastising me for sending my money so others can do my work, at least I'm trying to make a difference including going to Mexico to help build houses. But perhaps you could enlighten me to how I could better help man kind by giving an example of how you do it better.
