With the anniversary of 9/11, there were a lot of shows and stories of poeple showing their patriotism - even at the Cardnals game with the giant American flag. How many poeple are only loyal Americans on special occassions? Like 9/11 and the 4th of July to name a few? Why don't they put their money where their mouth is and start buying American products. The president understands and when he gave his jobs bill speech, he said we should buy Fords, Chevys and Chryslers so we can put more Americans back to work. Don't be a part-time American, and think before you buy. Buy American

I drive Toyota's & will "Buy American" when GM, FORD, Chrysler decide to make their trucks & cars in the U.S. instead of Ford making their Ford Fusion cars in Hermosillo, Sonora, MX plant by MX workers who will collect U.S. Social Security Retirement per the U.S. Social Security Totalization Act of 2006-2007 passed by the GOP Prez GWB + then U.S. Senator Barack "SKUNK" Obama (D, IL)...LOL! So get Ur facts straight about "Buying American" when our Tax Dollars are still Bailing_out U.S. multinational Corporations with BILLION$$$$ overseas to quit paying their fair-share of U.S. Corporate Income Taxes (e.g., CISCO Systems pays a mere 25% Corporate Income Tax in U.S. by keeping $40 BILLION of it's capital offshore in Switzerland per CISCO CEO in a recent CBS "60 minutes" program interview...LOL!!!

    Nice idea, Larry Lumsden.

    To manini,
Just for balance, let us assume that the Totalization Act applies to persons who occupy upper management positions in Ford factories in MX, who claim dual citizenship and also pay into the Social Security trust fund. (Do I agree with the Act any more with that assumption? No)

Also, for the sake of balance:
"Starting in the late 1980s the Social Security Administration received a flood of W-2 earnings reports with incorrect Social Security numbers. It stashed them in what it calls the “earnings suspense file” in the hope that someday it would figure out whom they belonged to. The file has been mushrooming ever since: $189 billion worth of wages ended up recorded in the suspense file over the 1990s, two and a half times the amount of the 1980s. While Social Security does not know what fraction of the suspense file corresponds to the earnings of illegal immigrants, other researchers say illegal immigrants are the main contributors. In the current decade, the file has grown, on average, by more than $50 billion a year, generating $6 billion to $7 billion in Social Security tax revenue and about $1.5 billion in Medicare taxes. In 2002 alone nine million W-2s with incorrect Social Security numbers landed in the suspense file, accounting for $56 billion in earnings, or about 1.5 percent of total reported wages."

I make it a point to look at the labels and send notes to those companies that produce in the United States. The responses have been favorable. One company in Oregon actually sent me a hat for my email.

Because of the recent loans to the auto makers, Ford has moved the production of the Focus to entirely within the US and Nissan is building the Leaf in the US, too. These things wouldn't have happened without the loans.

Eric Cantor and the GOP now want to cancel the remaining loans money, already allocated, in order to pay for disaster relief.

Just more proof the GOP wants to drive jobs out of the US.

manini --- get your facts straight --- Barack's nickname is not " skunk " .... it is " Cave Man ".

He has caved into the Republican cult on every issue. He has not fought for any issue.

Right on Larry and C Salafia... If Congress had the guts to make the Pentagon and all government purchasers Buy American we see many of the 50,000 factories that shut down during the pathetic Bush administration and millions of American jobs returned to the U.S.

I just bought my 4th Ford Focus SEL model with Microsoft's SYNC voice activated controls allowing me to change radio stations, change temperature or make hands-free phone calls along with a gorgeous multi-function 8" touch screen display and it gets 28 city and 38 hwy mileage. And it's made entirely in the US and was ranked number one by Car and Driver beating out the Mazda 3, the Volkwagon Jetta, the Chevy Cruze and the Hyundai Elantra.

Proud to buy American and proud to be a Ford owner again!

Never, ever will I buy a car from a foreign manufacturer. If more Americans took the time to do the same, we'd see 'manufactured in the USA' mean something again and we'd see American jobs returning home!!

THE MAJOR INVESTOR (WHO BY THE WAY GOT HIS MONEY BACK BUT NOT THE AMERICAN TAX-PAYERS) WAS A ....FRIEND OF BARACK"..WHO "BUNDLED" TOGETHER HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF "ELECT OBAMA"....FUNDS.
The smell of this SOLYNDRA DEAL....that was pushed through by the OBAMA White House "Scheme Team" was so rotten that even the .....F.B.I.....is stepping in.

Employment, Education and Wellness are the three categories of concern for Arizona’s Veterans, military personnel, and their families.

Arizona is home to over 625,000 Veterans and military personnel. They constitute the less than 1% the U.S. population who have served and have sacrificed to keep our nation free.

Arizona Veterans, military personnel, and their families also are a population at risk based upon every social, economic, and educational measure: unemployment, underemployment, retention & graduation rates, incarceration, and suicide…just to name a few.

But in spite of these negative indices and in spite of their sacrifices, this group of patriots contributes mightily to the Arizona economy, estimated to be upwards of $15 billion annually.

Today, we ask our young people to serve and sacrifice their lives, their limbs, their hearts, their souls and their families to protect over 99% of the rest of us.

America is the land of the free because of the brave.

Now is not the time for debate, but for action. It is now time for the 99% of us to step up and answer the call…to extend a hand up, not a hand out. Now is not the time for “smaller” less involved government, but for leaders who can and will innovate, develop, and create an environment which is willing to invest in its people, especially those who have served and sacrificed and made our way of life possible.

Interestingly, there are ways to make our current situation a “win – win” for everyone, but it will not be easy nor will it be simple.

Employment, education and wellness are the cornerstones of investment that will not only resolve today’s problems, but lay the foundation for generations to come.

It is, indeed, time for Arizona to step up.

Since even American cars are not entirely American made, a better question might be which models of which manufacturer creates the most American jobs. Look at the two popular models below which I found in an ABC “made in America” article:

700,000 people are employed in the U.S. motor vehicle manufacturing industry. Each auto industry job supports nine other jobs including restaurants, retail stores, gas stations and real estate.

The Ford plant in Kansas City, Mo. employs 2,250 workers to build the Escape which is made of 65% American made parts.

The Toyota plant in Georgetown, Ky. employs 6000 workers to build the Camry which is made of 80% American made parts.

328,000 Toyota Camrys were sold last year. Ford sold 200,000 Escapes. Ford creates 13 assembly line jobs for every 100 cars manufactured while Toyota creates 20.

Blindly buying by brand name in today’s global environment may not be creating the most U.S. jobs even when the car is being built right here in the good ole’ U.S. of A.
