I am saddened to learn a homeowner is having problems with his homeowners association regarding flying the flag with a coiled snake in the middle, with the words, “Don’t tread on me”, appearing below the snake.
According to the book, “The FLAG of the United States of America,” reviewed by The Flag Research Center, Lexington, Mass., published in 1969, the popular flag, “Don’t Tread on Me” is the flag of the Commander in Chief, U. S. Navy, and originated in 1776.
It appears to me that this is an official flag of the United States of America and should be honored as such.
