Letters: Turley-Hansen's ideas are shameful

I was highly offended by your choice to utilize Linda Turley-Hansen's guest commentary in your Sept. 11 edition. I usually find her offensive, but her "10 years later, we remain under attack" commentary tops them all. She states we remained safe during the Bush administration, but it was during his watch that critical recommendations and warnings (from former Clinton staffers) were ignored, followed soon after by the 9/11 attack. She forgets to mention that under Bush, we attacked a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 (adrenalin had to be used well?). I would also like to know in what way is President Obama not "loyal to America."

She mentions that the cost for change is too high "in image and character." Does she think our image and character improved under the Bush administration? Really? And finally, she practically endorses the "people to abolish and to institute new government." And she has the gall to ask why we are divided? I am ashamed of her and extremely disappointed in the decision by the East Valley Tribune to print her commentary.

Linda Turley-Hansen...a small beacon of truth and patriotism in the morass of Anti-American, Left-Wing Liberal/Progressive/Democrat.....Socialism.

It's wonderful to know that there are still America-Loving Journalists out there in our Wonderful Country.

Just look at the standing, sustained ovation and applause that was given by the Families of the Passengers, Flight Crew and Flight Attendants in Pennsylvania for the Comemoration of the United Flight 93 Memorial. No Tele-Prompter...no Bullet-Proof Glass Shield like Obama required and President Bush wasn't ashamed to mention God in his speech. Clinton came off like the buffon he is.

Hey, Leon, you are a little clueless here. In AZ, public employees can't go on strike. Teachers can't; police can't; no first responder can, unless a municipality outsources a service to a private company that has unionized, like the bus drivers in our metropolitan area.

I'm not sure either you or Hansen would qualify as "a small beacon of truth and patriotism."

More like big beacons of propaganda and hate.

Yes, but Leon sure knows how to call people names.

But it looks like Leon finally figured out punctuation and capitalization.

What else do you expect from the Arizona Republican?

It is a charter member of the right wing cult.

I agree with you Louis; Linda Turley-Hansen lives in another world. Her perspective is limited by her maudlin mind and wishful thinking. Her cry is one of “Can’t we all just get along?” She doesn't let logic and reality get in her way.

She should get published, though, because the real world needs to know what kind of illogical fluff and flotsam is being foisted on those who believe in faeries and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you don't like it, then you don't have to read it. I read a lot of articles in which I disagree with the writer. Mike, you are raking Leon over the coals and I did not see anything about public sector employees in this article. Are you dragging in something from yet another article? Mike, you can push the left leaning liberalism yourself in your articles. For the record, I haven't seen your beacon shining either. :-)

We seem to lack very many moderates these days who can navigate the middle of the road. The result of both political parties pushing their respective ideologies without a though of compromising is shameful.

    samkat,
Considered political positions written by a 'professional journalist' and 'syndicated columnist' to draw audience and response are only by the most liberal of definitions 'opinions.' (yes that was meant as a double entendre).
