Letters: Current Planned Parenthood model should end

Congress should no longer fund Planned Parenthood. In 2007, Planned Parenthood fully disclosed that they performed 305,310 abortions, while less than 5,000 pregnant women were referred to adoption services. In 2008, $350 million went to Planned Parenthood from the government coffers, and clearly a whole lot of that money funded abortions based on 2007 statistics. I propose that Planned Parenthood close its doors and reopen as two separate entities. One would be euphemistically named “Reproductive Freedom Center” (abortions wink, wink); the other, “Neighborhood (bona fide) Health Clinic.” The latter would offer care and advice on women’s health like ovarian, cervical and breast cancer screenings, infertility and the like. This health clinic might even offer birth control information.

The government could in good faith provide funding for a true health clinic. The RFC would be funded by philanthropy, the Hollywood wealthy who consistently advocate for the poor and for abortion rights. There could be a special place on our tax returns to accept donations for the RFC. A website could even be set up for donations for abortions for those not able to pay for them. The Planned Parenthood organization as it exists today should go out of business.

The House of Representatives approved a Republican proposal to strip federal aid from abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

The amendment would strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding and cut another funding source. Many amendment supporters say they don't want any federal money going to an abortion provider.

Planned Parenthood has no respect for futrue life. A life begins at conception, and they make money off of abortions.

The Virginia General Assembly, in the state of Virginia, approved legislation that would require stricter regulations and government oversight for abortion clinics, putting abortion clinics under the same standards and rules as hospitals.

Accuracy believes that "A life begins at conception, and they make money off of abortions." So do many others. But historically western civilization has not behaved like it does. Accuracy needs to read Roe v. Wade and learn both sides of this problematic situation.

Accuracy: I find your rationale to be flawed. There are over 10,000 children in Arizona's CPS custody waiting for folks like you pro lifers to adopt them. Most will reach 18 and be thrown into the world with no support or skills. How many people do we have on the r=transplant list that you folks do not want to fund? Why is one life more important than another?

By the way, I suppose you are too young to remember when young women resorted to coat hangers or back room butchers but then you folks do not care as long as you can force your distorted view of the world on everyone else. How then do you differ from the Muslim fundamentalists? They also want to bend everyone else to their warped sense of values.

Excuse me...when did Drugstores stop selling contraceptives? If I remember my Ecology 101....if there is a dam in place the little fishies can't swim up the river and frolic in the lake...no can it. Young women got pregnant because ...THEY...did not protect themselves by either abstinance or contraception. THEY ARE THE GUILTY PARTY.
If you don't want to be arrested for writting "bad checks"...don't write them.
If you don't want to be arrested for "drunk driving" don't get drunk.

DO THE AMERICAN TAX-PAYERS PAY FOR THE FINES/COURT FEES FOR .........RUBBER CHECK WRITERS OR DRUNK DRIVERS...WHO WERE CONVICTED...........THE ANSWER IS ................N.O. ....NO.

So why should the American tax-payers pay for an....ABORTION.

President Barack Obama set a bad precedent in 2009 by using one of his very first executive orders to fund abortion services in other countries. Today, the Republican effort to end federal funding for the Planned Parenthood advocacy group is an attempt to slow the onslaught of abortions.

What authorities say happened at Dr. Gosnell's abortion clinic in Philadelphia has shocked and saddened the entire country. Dr. Gosnell and eight workers from his clinic now face eight counts of murder. Many in the pro-life community believe the same types of abuses are happening in other facilities across America.

Many Americans believe their tax dollars should not be used to subsidize Planned Parenthood abortion or any large abortion provider in America.
