An effort to close Falcon Field has begun. Two land developers who bought homes off the end of Falcon’s runways have applied to have an initiative placed on the November 2014 ballot to commence the defunding of Falcon Field.

Falcon Field has been in existence since 1941, is currently home to over 750 airplanes, provides employment for over 1,000 people, hosts over 100 businesses including two major helicopter manufacturers, Boeing and MD, and generates over $2.3 billion in revenue for the local economy.

Even though they signed aviation easements when they purchased their homes, the developers are claiming the airport is too busy. Falcon Field has been among the 10 busiest general aviation airports in the country for several decades, and the last few years it was number five.

The loss of Falcon Field would be seriously detrimental to the economy of Mesa. Please VOTE NO in November. Protect Falcon Field!
