It is really a shame that Arizona has the most liberal gun laws in the country. Guns can be taken into bars and no one needs to carry a permit. We have people that were at the shooting in Tucson last week that carried weapons. One person spoke out. He said he heard the gunfire and was ready to pull his weapon, but thought better of it. He thought since the gunman’s gun was taken from him that if he pulled his weapon, he could be mistaken by another armed person in the crowd and end up getting shot.
Now our state wants to pass a law to allow guns on our campuses for students and teachers. Bring in that same scenario on a college campus and it could be a bloodbath before the authorities even get there.
Please, we all need to tell our lawmakers no more senseless gun laws that could bring on more violent bloodshed in our communities.

Yes John,
We do not need weapons in classrooms. Imagine Jared armed and dangerous in his Pima Community College math class room!
So Senator Pearce, by chance you are reading this comment, Please do not pass laws which permit weapons on campus!!!!!! [This assumes that Russell Pearce can read]
Wow, two letters to the editor in today's paper questioning the direction Arizona has taken and may be about to take on gun laws! I can hardly wait to hear from our dearly beloved gun nut commenters, whose responses are highly predictable!

Maybe they all have said their peace and are not going to beat a dead horse anymore.

I just think that AZ needs to find a middle ground. I think that the gun laws here are way too lax. But in states such as my native one (NJ) they are way too strict.
If you live in Camden, NJ (most violent in the US) it is nearly impossible for the every day, law abiding citizen to purchase a firearm for protection. And if you live there you will need it b/c they just cut the PD, causing a crime free for all.
Overall if someone is going to attempt to assassinate another person or is just bat poo crazy they are going to find a weapon to do so regardless of the laws put in place.
But it should be stricken from the law books to carry a concealed weapon WITHOUT a permit. That was the most ridiculous thing I've witnessed. And there was no push back from the state legislature what so ever.

I agree the CCW permit is a good thing

more to protect the carries from the guns they carry not the criminals.

but should we protect someone from themselves? That goes against my philosophical thought. I have the CCW because I travel back to IN once a year and want it for the reciprocity.

Smitty,
Indiana? Where in Indiana does one need recripocity?
Freethinker,
Your sister's story seems unusual. Please give us more detail! Did she carry into and out of classrooms? Was this before weapons on campus were forbidden? In my days on Campus, everything was fairly peacefull and quiet, except for those parking garages late at night nearest Downtown Tempe.

look up CCW and the reciprocity agreement among states.
