Recent news about potential Mesa School District budget cuts is completely barbarous. Mesa School District, one of Arizona’s largest school districts, is planning on receiving as much as a $65 million budget cut next school year. This simply cannot be allowed.

Education in Arizona could possibly be the most important aspect in today’s society. Arizona needs students to take action and contribute to the society when they get older. But without exceptional education, it’s very unlikely that they will, especially with the amount that the school district is going to lose in budget cuts. And the frightening aspect? It may just be Mesa School District right now, but with time, it may result with more and more school districts losing money, as well as quality. And to top things off, Mesa just passed a proposition that will allow an $84 million complex to be built for the Chicago Cub’s spring training. We need to straighten out our priorities, or else what we are currently doing will come back and bite us in the butt.

    Antonio,

Sad but true. Mesa has had the best school district in the East Valley. For now, they still do. But "best" is not good enough when we are in the high on the list of cheap skate states in educational spending. Sure spending does not necessarily correlate with quality. But it ain't far off.

The people decided the Cubs are more important. Where are your values?
